Mobile Bartending Laws by State
Liquor laws are local. What works in Texas might be illegal in New York. We are compiling the ultimate guide to help you operate legally, whether you are a Dry Hire service or a Wet Hire caterer.
What is Dry Hire?
You provide the labor (bartenders) and the equipment (portable bars, tools). The client buys the alcohol. In most states, this does not require a liquor license, but requires strict adherence to “no sales” rules.
What is Wet Hire?
You provide the alcohol, the labor, and the liability. This almost always requires a state-issued Liquor License or Catering Permit, plus significant insurance coverage.
Regulations Are Complicated. Your Bar Shouldn’t Be.
You’ve got enough to figure out with permits and insurance. Get equipment that shows up, plugs in, and makes you look like you’ve been doing this for years.
